Plants

Plants work to soften lines and complement the furniture and any tree(s) in the room. We consider as "plants" those with heights ranging between approximately 2 ft. to 5 ft., and which are usually used as "floor plants."

Some of the same design considerations for trees apply also to plant selection. Here are some main factors to consider when selecting plants for the room:

  • The "theme" of the room/house (e.g., traditional, contemporary, minimalist, etc). This will generally establish the category of plant(s) to consider.
  • Location of the plant in the room.
  • Foliage type (including leaf size and shape).
  • Foliage color or variegation. The foliage color or variegation may be used to accent or complement other features and colors in the room.
  • Plant "shape."
  • Height. Care should be taken so that the plant does not finish at a height which is the same as any nearby furniture or architectural feature(s) (e.g., arm of a chair, sills of windows, etc.). Note: As with trees, the finished height of a plant can be increased somewhat by raising the plant in its container, or increased by using a raised container such as an urn.
  • Width available for the plant.
  • Fullness or sparseness of foliage desirable.
  • What other plants and trees (if any) are in the same room, or that can be visually connected if in another room? The plant should be complementary and "work with" its "neighbors."

Because we make our own products, we can "customize" a plant to meet any of the design considerations listed above.

Each plant is provided in a non-decorative container, suitable for use in the decorative container of your choosing.
